WINDOWS There's an old weary window where I sit and watch the world go drifting by. Folks like me been sitting here waiting since 1925. It's a great big ol' world and we all saw it from that window. It ain't so much to look at, just some worn out wood and dirty, faded glass. It's got a torn and tattered screen that catches dreams and leaves as they go drifting past. And now it's caught me drifting too - and we're all gathered by my window. CHORUS That's what windows do. I'm siting here looking outside while I'm looking on the inside too. I'll let you look at me, but I'll be looking right back at you. 'Cuz that's what windows do. Sometimes I sit here thinking 'bout the ghosts of all the folks who sat here through the years. Just like me, no doubt, they had their pains and gains and shames...bet they had some fears. I've had my fill of fearing, but I ain't afraid beside my window. REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE So open up your windows, baby. I'll open up mine too. All a-sudden there's a horn blowing, friends waving: “Come on down we're gonna make some music play. You gotta stop your silly dreaming now, step away from your window for today.” Well, I've done entirely too much leaving, so I'll be back beside my window. REPEAT CHORUS

ON THEIR WAY BACK HOME My daddy played some baseball before the old parks disappeared. My uncle Earl loves that Gibson but he ain't played that thing in years. And when we're all together and their stories come, Their eyes go far away and their hearts start to run. CHORUS They're On Their Way Back Home. In their minds back in time where all their seeds were sown. Older eyes are young again, skipping stones, best of friends On summer days they prayed would never end. They're On Their Way Back Home. Back then they made a living with hands and hearts and backs like steel, Keeping one hand on the Good Book and one hand on the wheel. And when they tell their stories of those days gone by, Their weary hands grow strong and their hearts start to fly. REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE They're on their way . . . on their way . . . Home is where you come from and home is where you'll go. The years are rushing by now, I got stories of my own. I can hear my children laughing, their story still untold. And one day when we're together and my stories come, My eyes will go far away and my heart will start to run. REPEAT CHORUS

SAME MOON TONIGHT Are you lookin' at the same moon tonight? Are you lookin' at the same stars in the same sky tonight? Are you thinkin' 'bout the faces and all the old places? Are you lookin' at the same moon tonight? Are you listenin' to the same song tonight? The one about forever where it all turns out right? Are you thinkin' about the first dance that too soon became a last chance? Are you lookin' at the same moon tonight? CHORUS: But I heard (I know) you're lookin' at a new moon, And learning to dance to a new tune. I heard (I know) your eyes are lost in new eyes, And you’re not looking at the same moon tonight. Are you seeing all the same ghosts tonight? Right there in the shadows where the memories all hide? Are you feelin' the cold wind and missin' an old friend? Are you lookin’ at the same moon tonight? REPEAT CHORUS

ANYONE LIKE YOU I never knew anyone take away the blues like you do. I never felt anything like I feel when I feel what I’m feeling for you. CHORUS It took one look and I knew (saw) what I never knew (seen). Oh, and I never knew, never felt, never touched, never loved, anything, anywhere, anyone like you. I never heard anything like the sound of my heart when you call my name. I never saw anything that looks so good it takes my breath away. REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE Fly…. Come on fly away with me. Our hearts are running free, don’t you see Come fly away with me. REPEAT CHORUS and out.

HIS LAST SONG He died on a Someday with the blessed ones standing by. We were waitin' on the sunrise; we knew that'd be the time. I heard him singin' softly 'bout a Holy Home on High, Called the names of all his children, then breathed one last goodbye. And the sun goes up and down And this old world keeps on turnin' round. We sat a while in silence with the daylight chasing dawn. Then Grandma finished cryin', and she put the coffee on. "Remember what he told you 'bout hopeful and strong, There's time enough for dyin', so meanwhile carry on." And the sun goes up and down And this old world keeps on turnin' round. CHORUS His last song was all about tomorrow. And his last sight was the morning sun. His last prayer was for his children. And his last breath was not alone. It's been a month of Somedays – all slowly drifin' by - Since I sat there talkin' with him 'bout living and dyin'. He’d say, "Used-To-Be ain't nothin' but a place you cannot go. Hearts prefer tomorrow, that's where you’ll find the hope.” And the sun goes up and down - And this old world keeps on turnin' round. REPEAT CHORUS (twice)
6.
THE GIRL WITH THE WIND IN HER EYES I know a girl with the wind In her eyes. Restless dreams 'bout Kerouac things in western skies. I'll tell you 'bout the girl with the wind In her eyes. You're gonna want her to stay but she's on her way and you realize CHORUS You don't touch the wind - it touches you, It makes you wanna go where it's going to. You can't hold it, though it's got a hold deep inside of you. I know a girl with that kind of wind in her eyes. And I know a girl with some old in her soul. Like she already knows what she's waiting to show ya; a story told. Another thing about the girl: she's got some wild in her hair, Like an untamed breeze went dancing through leaves, unaware. REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE So go! Find a falling star. Another never be far with the wind in your eyes. And when a time should come again I'll be looking inside to find the wind in your eyes. Keep the wind in your eyes; keep the wind in your eyes. Sometimes I think about the girl with the wind In her eyes, When my old dreams do Kerouac things things here in southern skies. I know a girl - Yes, I know a girl - Oh, know a girl - with the wind in her eyes.

CALIFORNIA CALLING Land of Milk and Honey, Land of Easy Dreamin’, Stake a claim on glory, then play the scene. I could see it all before me through young and hungry eyes, So hit the road, start the show, and see. Something from the western side of somewhere was calling to me. CHORUS It was California calling me, like a whisper in the wind That comes rolling off the desert like it's telling me a secret from a long-gone friend. I feel the pounding of the ocean and the echo in the hills. It was California calling from the western side of somewhere and it’s calling still. So I found the milk and honey and some not-so-easy dreams. Ain't got no claim on glory; ain't even in the scene. But I see it all behind me with older, wiser eyes, So many roads, so many miles between. Something from the western side of somewhere keeps calling to me. CHORUS It’s just California calling me, it's just a whisper in the wind That comes rolling off the desert like it's telling me a secret from a long-gone friend. I hear the pounding of the ocean and the echo in the hills. It’s just California calling like it never let me go and it's calling still. BRIDGE Out across the desert, then back across the sky, playin' out the circle of my life. The strings may all be broken, the ties no longer bind, I – go – round and round and round. . . 'Cuz something from the western side of somewhere keeps haunting my mind. CHORUS It’s just California . . . California calling me, it's just a whisper in the wind That comes rolling off the desert like it's telling me a secret from a long-gone friend. I hear the pounding of the ocean and the echo in the hills. It’s just California calling like it never let me go and never will.

LAST YEAR'S GARDEN Last year’s garden was a mighty fine garden, Heaven knows; Sea of blue, red, green, and gold. Last year’s garden was a mighty fine place for a morning stroll, But that was then. Now, damn this snow! Last year’s garden felt like starting a brand new day. Young hearts on fire; come what may. But now it’s hiding, buried under colors of cold and gray. Damn this snow! Get gone away. CHORUS Round and round and round and round, Rising from the frozen ground, An old friend coming from lost to found again. There’s a promise in the breath of Spring That puts the tiredest dream to wing, And then . . . round and round again! This year Trouble brought pretty big trouble, like Trouble do, A different kinda sea; a different kinda blue. I’m thinking this trouble ain’t nothin’ but a bunch of that much ado. And like garden snow, it’ll get gone too. REPEAT CHORUS Next year’s garden’s gonna a fine garden, Heaven knows. But that’ll be then. Now, damn this snow!

ON A NIGHT LIKE TONIGHT I wonder where my baby is. Why's the night gettin' colder as the moon comes up the ridge. Something ain't right - been thinkin' all night that she ain't where she oughta be. On a night like tonight she oughta be right here layin' next to me. I wonder where my baby is. I wonder what this feelin' is. Something inside tellin' me what's mine could now be his. She's headin' back there, back to where she swore she'd never go. A night like tonight made her think twice and she's hopin' that I'll never know, I wonder where my baby is. CHORUS On a night - like tonight - The moon gets her passion burnin' bright. It was a night - just like tonight - When I stole that girl from right before his eyes. So on a night like tonight it would only serve me right If he took her back - like lightnin' strikin' twice. So on a night like tonight I just might Have to tell my baby goodbye (…might have to put up a fight). I know just where my baby is. Back to him, back to when she swore he hung the moon. She told me she was through, and it was true, she'd always love me more. On a night like tonight he's lookin' for a fight, cuz' I ain't gonna let her go. I know just where my baby is. REPEAT CHORUS

MAY YOUR BOAT STAY AFLOAT Ol' Noah must have been just a little bit afraid As he battened down the hatches at the end of the parade. He said, "Lord, I've started driftin' and this weather's mighty bleak. My friends have disappeared and I got all these mouths to feed." So it is with you and me. CHORUS May your boat stay afloat though it's loaded down with cares. May your sails not fail to find the weather fair. May your storms be few and the Captain see you through. May your heart stay strong and true. This is all I ask for you. Christopher Columbus must have been just a little bit confused As he headed west to find the East; discovered Timbuktu. He said, "Lord, I think I’m lost, the whole world seems wrong-side round, The faces aren’t too friendly, there's no gold here to be found." So it is with me and you. REPEAT CHORUS Into every life a little rain will surely fall. We get inside out and upside down and all that rigmarole. But just like Chris and Noah I hope we sail on through Until we find safe harbors, me and you. REPEAT CHORUS

NEVER RUN AWAY FROM A BROKEN HEART Never run away from a broken heart, Pick up all the pieces and put 'em in a jar. Shake it all up and make a new start, Never run away from a broken heart. Never run away from a broken heart.
